Stano Filko was a pioneering Slovak conceptual and multimedia artist, widely regarded as one of the most influential figures of the Central European avant-garde. From the 1960s onward, his practice examined systems of thought—spanning spirituality, science, colour, and space—through an expansive range of media including painting, installation, text, performance, and architectural interventions.
A key participant in the neo-avant-garde in former Czechoslovakia, Filko exhibited internationally despite periods of political restriction and exile. His concept of “cosmohumanism” and his colour-coded systems became central to his artistic philosophy. His works are held in major museum collections and continue to be presented in exhibitions worldwide.
